Job Description
Randolph-Macon College, a liberal arts institution of 1,500 undergraduate students located in Ashland, Virginia, is seeking a talented, innovative, and experienced professional for the position of Director of Annual Giving. Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, the Director of Annual Giving oversees cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship programs initiated by the department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive, systematic solicitation program to achieve the Annual Fund goals, primarily for specific groups or decades, as assigned.
  2. Plans and executes special solicitation programs such as Randolph-Macon's Annual Day of Giving (Macon Day) by collaborating with key leaders, brainstorming fun on-campus activities, and engaging alumni and donors to give in a fast-paced and celebratory day.
  3. Collaborate with the Marketing & Communication Office to write and design ongoing solicitations and communications to engage alumni and donors.
  4. Identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of leadership annual giving prospects to create and grow a pipeline of Presidents Society members ($1,500 and above).
  5. Oversee recruiting and managing a corps of essential volunteers, including class agents.
  6. Responsible for the management of an existing portfolio of targeted alumni groups through face-to-face visits.
  7. Provide direction and supervision to the Annual Giving Team so they can continue to reach their fullest potential.
  8. Work with the Alumni Board Development Committee on ongoing/future fundraising and engagement projects.

Qualifications and Requirements

A Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of previous proven fund-raising experience are required. Qualified candidates should possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, persuasive writing and speaking skills, proficiency and a desire to work with computer databases and word processing, the ability to recruit and motivate volunteers, and an understanding and excitement about the process of solicitation and relationship-building through cultivation. Individuals should possess a high energy level, initiative, and an appreciation for the purpose and values of a traditional residential college. Flexibility and willingness to travel and work nights and weekends are requirements.
