TRC serves a broad range of clients in industry and government, implementing complex projects from initial concept to delivery and operation.

We are seeking a Land Survey Crew Chief to join our team in the Richmond,Virginia. The Survey Crew Chief is responsible for conducting surveys of all types. Work duties are 95% outdoors with exposure to vehicle traffic, sun, varying environmental noise & mechanical equipment. To be considered for this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty meeting external and internal client expectations.


Responsibilities

  • Understanding of the types of surveys and the purpose of each including topographic, boundary, subdivision, ALTA, construction layout, and as-built surveys
  • Collect quality survey data.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of survey equipment.
  • Operate survey instruments including level, robotic total stations with electronic data collectors.
  • Takes accurate and clear notes and note reduction.
  • Reads and understands plans and specifications.
  • Train survey crew members in the use of equipment and proper field techniques.
  • Adherence to company safety policies along with use of supplied personal protective equipment, (PPE)
  • Be a positive representative of the company and its core values.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel out of town occasionally for projects.
  • Minimum 2 years of field and survey technician experience
  • Proficiency in construction staking, performing ALTA, boundary and topographic surveys.
  • Must have working knowledge of Robotic Total Stations, and GPS.
  • Able to operate and train others in the use of survey equipment including conventional and electronic instruments and computers (hardware and software)
  • Possess good interpersonal skills, and effective written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be able to pass drug screening.
  • Must be able to lift equipment or materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
