Business Development Operations Assistant

Cooley is seeking a Business Development Operations Assistant to join the Marketing & Business Development team.

Position summary: Under the direct supervision of the Business Development Operations Manager, the Business Development Operations Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for various administrative projects and duties in support of the business development team. The team focuses on four key areas: (1) developing new client relationships for the firm; (2) developing relationships with investors/ venture funds in designated markets; (3) advising clients on fundraising strategies; and (4) working with Marketing and Events teams to help Cooley's profile with key decision makers and influencers. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Salesforce management
  • Learn the firm's CRM system and be an internal champion of resources
  • Assist with initial vetting of prospects, data collection and logging of new contacts and accounts
  • Update and maintain data integrity of account / contact records
  • Create and update pipeline records with pitch activity and notes from meetings
  • Create campaign records for upcoming sponsorships / socials / events
  • Generate various reports for the Business Development team, as needed
  • Event coordination and support
  • Assist with event planning and follow-up activities, and onsite duties if in resident office
  • Coordinate ROI Assessments with members of the Business Development team
  • Maintain lists, such as: angels, VCs, incubators/accelerators which we are sponsoring, startup resource lists, and creating and maintaining centralized referrals lists (fractional CFOs, lawyers/boutique law firms, etc.)
  • Prepare the monthly pipeline meeting report, assist with scheduling, take notes
  • Assist with updating the Cooley Business Development Managers Teams channels and the CooleyNet Business Development page
  • Assist with meeting planning/scheduling (involves researching other prospects and investors in a market in order to maximize time) - internal and external
  • Assist with preparation for and post meeting follow-up activities, including requesting intel information in advance of meetings, document generation and/or pitch assembly, and creating pipeline activities
  • Prepare and submit expense reports
  • Assist with travel arrangements
  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
  • Available to work overtime, as required

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, communication, marketing, or related field
  • Previous office or administrative experience
  • Familiarity with Salesforce
  • Previous process management experience

The expected hourly pay range for this position is $23.00 - $33.00. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
