Reporting to Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs for the Office of the Provost, and working in partnership with Human Resources dual career services, this position manages Virginia Tech's Dual Career Program for academic faculty. The Dual Career Program assists the senior leadership in hiring top academic and administrative talent by providing assistance in identifying employment for the spouses and partners of key academic faculty and leaders who fill critical roles at the institution.
The manager will lead efforts to cultivate internal and external relationships and identify potential employment opportunities for dual career clients at the university and regionally in education, private industry, the nonprofit sector, and government. The manager will provide counsel for dual career partners regarding employment opportunities, offer CV or resume review, assist with interview preparation, and make recommendations that support the individual's job search efforts.
The manager will represent the Office of Faculty Affairs in building relationships, communicating, and facilitating access to resources (including bridge funding) for the dual career program to department heads, school directors, and other academic leaders. The manager will also collaborate and partner with HR dual career services to assure consistency and effectiveness for all dual partners. This dynamic office seeks to continually develop and implement programs to support faculty success and empower faculty excellence.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with emphasis in human resource management, business, or related field.
Broad experience as a human resource professional with particular emphasis in the areas of staffing and recruitment;
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
Evidence of experience in using and presenting data to monitor and communicate program effectiveness;
Experience in using discretion in working with highly confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in related field;
Program management experience;
Previous experience providing support for dual career couples.
Evidence of resourcefulness in finding positive solutions.
Aptitude in learning new software as needed.
Ability to take the initiative on projects via self-direction and independent action and a commitment to that could be characterized as a "bias for action".
Familiarity with Faculty Affairs and a strong desire to support faculty success and empower faculty excellence.
Prior experience in a large research university is highly desirable.
