Job Description

The Virginia Tech School of Communication invites applications for a full-time, open-rank professor of practice (non-tenure-track). The new faculty member will be expected to teach advertising courses, which could include Advertising Copywriting and Brand Storytelling, Account Planning and Media Buying, and Ethics and Social Responsibility in Advertising, PR Campaigns, as well as courses relevant to the instructor's area of expertise. The faculty member will teach three classes per semester.

Required Qualifications

- Master's degree in advertising or related field or bachelor's degree in advertising, communication, public relations, marketing, or related field with substantial experience in advertising.
- Demonstration of extensive professional advertising industry expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

- Doctorate in advertising or related field
- Full-time experience in advertising
- Advertising account planning/management experience
- Advertising copywriting experience
- College-level teaching experience
- Advertising experience in a research area of the School (sports, health, risk/reputation, AI, DEI, social advocacy/social marketing)
- Experience in public relations, integrated communication, IMC, and/or a related field
