Job Description

Reporting to the Managing Director for Residential Well-being and Inclusion and an Associate Director in Hokie Wellness, the Coordinator for Well-being champions a welcoming, inclusive, and holistic experience for residential students that prioritizes student well-being and success. With a focus on the Aspirations for Student Learning and the Principles of Community, the Coordinator for Well-being connects students to relationships and opportunities that empower each student to take an active and engaging day-to-day approach to their well-being, including financial, social, physical, community, career, purpose, emotional, and mental dimensions.

The Coordinator is responsible for fostering student well-being through the creation of a data-driven, inclusive, and team-based well-being plan to support individuals, relationships, and communities in the residential environment. The Coordinator brings together students, events, organizations, living-learning programs, mentoring, and programs to support community and individual well-being. In addition, the Coordinator fosters connections; promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion; and identifies ways spaces, systems, and access to resources provide an infrastructure for well-being.

The Coordinator for Well-being serves on a strong multidisciplinary team of colleagues from across Student Affairs, which is convened regularly by the Managing Director for Residential Well-being and Inclusion to cultivate a rich experiential foundation for students' success that offers a deep sense of community and belonging for every student. In addition, the Coordinator builds relationships with campus partners and identifies opportunities to bring programs, activities, and resources into the residential community, as well as opportunities to take residential students to outside events. The Coordinator also provides student support through mentoring, referral to resources, incident response, on-call duties, and other duties, as assigned.

The Coordinator for Well-being also leads a team of 15-25 diverse student leaders for well-being who live in the residence halls and provide well-being opportunities and programming for a group of fellow Hokies. The Coordinator engages regularly with these student leaders through training and supervision to ensure that residential students receive high-level programming, connection to resources, and exemplary service. The Coordinator also mentors student leaders to identify personal and professional growth opportunities and resources to support their individual well-being and success.
