Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, assumes the responsibility and accountability for the care of hospital patients. Works in collaboration with all other care disciplines to provide safe, efficient and coordinated care for the hospital patients. Adheres to the policies and procedures of Wythe County Community Hospital (WCCH). Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education. Performs clinical tasks for all patient populations. Delegates pharmacy priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the available pharmacy staff. Supervises and reviews the work of pharmacy technical staff for accuracy and appropriateness.
1. Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Pharmacist, and in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy.
2. Experience in hospital setting preferred.
3. Above average mathematical skills needed.
4. Working knowledge of Meditech, CPOE, keyboarding and operation of a computer, printer, copier and fax.
5. Ability to regularly accept after-hours on-call assignments and ability to report to hospital within 30 minutes of notification.
6. Ability to accept on-call assignments for regularly scheduled shift when acuity and/or census indicates the need. This status will be determined by the Pharmacy Director.
