Nursing (RN) Director - Emergency Services

Position Summary:

* Directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.

* Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

* Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.

* Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.

* Maintains credentialing/certification/licensure and education/competency files of staff and is accountable for staff compliance.

* Interprets policies and procedures; identify non-compliance and takes appropriate actions.

* Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

* Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

* Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Graduate from a program in nursing required

* Bachelor's degree required. In lieu of degree, CNO may require degree completed within a certain time frame.

* Master's degree preferred

* Two (2) years' of experience as a Manager/Director in a hospital required

* Minimum of two (2) years of experience as RN in emergency department required

* Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

* Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure appropriateness and continuity of care for the patients of Sovah Health Danville.

* Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA)

* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association (AHA)

* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association (AHA) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric

* Certification Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) required, or must be obtained within first 6 months of employment
