The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Virginia Tech seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. This position will be an important part of the Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES), aimed at enhancing and expanding ECE's research efforts in the field of power electronics. The role will play a crucial part in strengthening our ongoing research and education initiatives, contributing significantly to the growth and development of power electronics-related studies within the department.

Areas of interest include high frequency power conversion for space electronics, portable electronics, computers, datacenters, telecommunications, battery management, electric vehicles, and robotics; power management for high performance CPU/GPU and AI chips; power conversion for health and biomedical applications. We are seeking candidates motivated to contribute to a collegial, interdisciplinary community with a strong tradition of both fundamental and applied research.

The Center for Space Science and Engineering Research, Space@VT, is a Virginia Tech College of Engineering center with more than 20 tenure track and research faculty as well as over 50 students. Among the center's goals is the development of technology for space applications. Research activities range from space flight missions, ground based remote sensing of the upper atmosphere and geospace environment, as well as modeling, GNSS, and robotics development. Space@VT has strong industry engagement as well as research interactions across the university.

The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers B.S., M.Eng., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering with a current enrollment of approximately 1,000 undergraduate and 660 graduate students. The department has 76 full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members and 20 non-tenure-track faculty located in two primary locations, which are the Blacksburg Campus and the Greater Washington, DC area including the new VT Innovation Campus in Alexandria, Virginia. Annual research expenditures exceed $56M. Recognition of faculty accomplishments includes 4 members of the National Academy of Engineering, 30 Fellows of the IEEE, and various fellows of other professional societies, 27 current and prior NSF CAREER awardees, and 4 DoD Young Investigators. Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, or a closely related field, a strong record of academic accomplishments and a proven ability to work collaboratively, a commitment to interdisciplinary research and instruction, and a willingness to expand disciplinary boundaries to address complex technical and societal challenges. Successful applicants will be responsible for mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, teaching and developing courses, and developing a vibrant externally sponsored research program.
