Reporting to the Assistant Manager for Electro/Mechanical and Preventative Maintenance, the Maintenance Supervisor provides direction and supervises all activities of assigned trade's personnel to complete preventive and corrective maintenance for building systems/equipment, grounds, housekeeping, and other projects as assigned for completion on a weekend shift. This position ensures the execution of work order assignments in coordination with fellow facilities supervisors and with designated University contacts in order that all projects are completed in a timely, safe and cost-effective manner. Supervisor interacts routinely with building occupants on scheduled and nonscheduled activities to ensure open and effective communications. Completes the required administrative functions regarding work order flow including data entry into Facilities work order system, coordinates procurement and delivery of material to job sites in order that avoidable work delays are prevented, and coordinates daily shift turnover with other facilities leadership so that resources available can be used to meet the most pressing needs. The incumbent will work on Monday's and Friday's in conjunction with the Facilitates Maintenance Shops and come together with other weekend shift employees on Saturday and Sunday for weekend coverage. This is a designated emergency personnel position.

Required Qualifications

* Previous experience in a lead role or directing the work of other employees.
* Virginia Master licensure in plumbing, electrical, and/or HVAC
* Experience in one or more of the following: plumbing, electrical or HVAC.
* Must have a valid driver's license.
* Will be required to operate a motor vehicle daily
* Familiarity with building trades.
* Working knowledge of all local and state codes that pertain to areas of responsibility.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Must be able to read, and understand a variety of technical documents such as blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, specification records, and operating and maintenance manuals.
* Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
* This position is designated as Emergency Personnel. May be required to work additional hours/shifts to meet the needs of the department.

Preferred Qualifications

* Maintenance experience with building systems in a large commercial or institutional setting.
* Experience in a computerized work order/inventory management system.
* Working knowledge of multiple trade specific tasks.
* Previous Supervisory experience.
* Previous experience with housekeeping.
* Previous grounds maintenance experience.

Commensurate with experience, $1,040 shift differential added after offer.

Additional Information

* Ability to safely and frequently move and handle heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds alone, or more with assistance; ability to maneuver materials up and down stairs; ability to climb and work from elevated workstations such as ladders and scaffolds; ability to work for long periods of time standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing/pulling.
* Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
* Must have an acceptable and safe driving record
* Must have a driver's license check
* Virginia Master Plumbing or Electrical License or current Journey or Master level licensing agreement (reciprocity) from another jurisdiction as approved by the Virginia Board for Contractors. Must obtain Virginia license within 6 months of employment.
* Work hours are normally Friday thru Monday 6:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. (schedule may be modified but will always include weekends).
* During periods of inclement weather, emergency situations or for special projects may work a modified schedule and additional hours to meet the needs of the department.
* This position is designated as Emergency Personnel. Must be available twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week to provide support during planned events or emergency situations (such as inclement weather) to include being physically on site if deemed necessary.
* This position meets the criteria for issuance of a mobile communication device (such as radio, cellphone, iPad, iPod, pager, etc.). Devices issued are the responsibility of the employee and are to be returned in satisfactory condition upon separation of employment. Devices are to be used according to supervisor instruction and according to relevant policies.
* As situation dictates, must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
* Must wear employer provided uniforms as instructed by supervisor or lead.
* Use/wearing of a respirator may be required.
* Must have annual health and safety medical check.

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
