Our Roanoke office is currently seeking registered Project Architects; 10+ years' experience working on large scale projects is preferred. Experience should include commercial, institutional and residential projects encompassing health care, assisted living, higher education, and/or multi-family. Renovation experience would be a plus. Successful candidate will possess a Bachelor or Master's degree in Architecture. Candidate should possess knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of schematic design through construction drawings with the ability and understanding of three-dimensional forms and models.

The position requires performance of all aspects of architecture as it relates to individually assigned projects. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:
  • Proficient in software packages including current versions of AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Google SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of model building codes and ability to synthesize multiple code requirements.
  • Ability to present ideas and designs during interviews and meetings.
  • Meeting with clients to assist in refining the design of the project.
  • Multi-tasking/ability to participate in several capacities or projects simultaneously, each in different phases.
  • Focus, efficiency and dependability; shows initiative to be responsible for specific tasks and willingness to assist when needed.
  • Ability to take the design team through Construction Documentation and provide detailing required for construction.
  • Knowledge and ability to work within the context of our contractual responsibilities.
  • Ability to plan work effort and design solutions to meet project budgets and deadlines, both in-house and for the clients.
  • Assist Project Manager with necessary information to create budget and schedule.
  • Ability to assess the appropriate effort needed to complete tasks, remain on schedule and stay within the established project budget; and, communicate any deviations to the Project Manager.
  • Ability to coordinate with consultants and other disciplines that are involved in the project, i.e. structural, electrical, civil engineers.
  • Ability to work with Contractors and other team members during Construction Phase services to maintain design intent.
  • Strong written and communication skills are a must.
  • Excellent client interface capabilities and organizational skills.
The Project Architect's responsibility is to work collaboratively with Project Designers, interpret the conceptual and schematic designs, conduct a thorough code analysis, work with the other team disciplines to develop building details, specifications, and full architectural construction documents. During construction, the Project Architect will have responsibility for answering RFI's, reviewing shop drawings and conducting periodic site visits.
