Overview
The Training Specialist (TS) will have responsibility for instructional delivery in both Technical and Service and Support areas. In addition to facilitating multiple training classes either on site or through distance learning, based on product families, the TS works with the various business partners (i.e. Learning and Development, TSEs, Contact Center) and other specialized business groups to develop instructional materials which contribute to the professional development and engagement of Canon's employees.

For both on site and distance learning, he/she will coordinate, schedule, ensure room set up, and administer training programs and calendars, as well as participate in measuring the effectiveness, impact and application of new skills. The instructor will engage in various feedback venues to gather information directly from classroom participants and adapts that feedback to ensure training is optimized. Up to 20-30% travel may be required to support business needs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct training activities, on site and through distance learning for both technical and Service and Support areas, as assigned including the development, design and updates to training programs to ensure alignment with business objectives
- Set up classroom/lab environments to meet each training need to include audio/video, product, telecom, network, training materials, distance learning, and computer for agents and trainer
- Maintain a positive learning environment; incorporate interactive learning activities; treat all students professionally and with respect; follow course outline/ facilitator's guides, pacing activities to fit the available time
- Ensure student adherence to policies, attendance, practices and performance standards established by the Training department and CITS
- Contribute to the design of instructional materials used in the learning environment, learning activities, job and performance aids; utilize industry recognized instructional techniques; align learning activities with organizational goals and needs; follow departmental format guidelines; develop alternate instructional delivery methods; meet instructional delivery milestones; monitor and incorporate technical and operational data into course content
- Solicit feedback regarding value and effectiveness of training courses; report on evaluation information; incorporate evaluation feedback into course content and instructional techniques
- Track and report on training activities; track and maintain training equipment; utilize technology to enhance productivity; create, enable and facilitate training events as needed
- Serve as performance consultant to Supervisors, team coordinators and TSRIIs; coach and mentor trainees in pursuit of performance goals while in an instructional environment
- Demonstrated teamwork skills to collectively complete assigned tasks. Observes training classes and workshops conducted by other designated instructors in order to evaluate effectiveness of instructor and curriculum content, and to provide quality constructive feedback.
- Other duties as assigned to assist the department and CITS to reach its performance objectives
Qualifications
- Requires an Associate's Degree or post high school technical or specialized education which may be obtained in the first two or three years of college technical school or business school. However a BA or BS in business, IO psychology, training or education is preferred.
- Facilitation certification required within 1 year of position obtainment. 15 hours of advance continuing educations required with the first two years of job obtainment
- A minimum of two-four years progressively responsible training experience
- Excellent oral communication
