POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE FREDRICKSBURG VA CBOC.
Location of this position will be The Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Fredericksburg, VA. This Staff Nurse is administratively accountable to the Associate Director for Patient Care Services, through the Associate Chief, Nursing Service/Primary Care and the Nurse Manager, Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
Duties include assisting with all Primary Care Clinic nursing activities. Primary care is provided through a newly developed Patient Aligned Care Team model (PACT) which allows time and structure to attain comprehensive patient centered nursing care. Normal work week will be day tour, Monday through Friday. Alternate tours may be required as dictated by patient care needs and clinic scheduling.

Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel. The criteria are as follows: Practice: practice, ethics and resource utilization, Professional Development: performance, education/career development, Collaboration; collaboration, collegiality, Scientific Inquiry: quality of care, research.
Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of successful clinical practice in a Medical/Surgical or Ambulatory Care setting required. Demonstration of a high degree of personal and professional accountability, maturity, stability and the ability to be self-directed, function independently and work effectively with others at all levels in the organization. Satisfactory performance as described in most recent evaluation/proficiency report and appropriate criteria based functional statement. Demonstration of the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently coordinate patient care activities with the interdisciplinary team. Demonstration of excellent customer relations skills in previous assignments.
Physical Requirements: The physical requirements of this position include lifting, prolonged standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, etc, reaching (overhead, extensive/repetitive), repetitive motion and stooping. The mental/sensory requirements include recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, keyboarding, reading and logical thinking. The environment's pace can vary from steady to a sometimes fast pace requiring handling of multiple priorities, frequent, sometimes intense customer interactions, and the ability to adapt to frequent changes in a sometimes noisy environment. There may be the need to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to disease, illness and hazardous materials.
